Chats on the Farmhouse Porch....a Linked Visit

It's Tuesday....and this past weekend's project is still sitting on the kitchen table....not even started!

I feel something akin to shame that I still haven't started painting the shelf Eddie made and the other two pieces that are getting a "facelift".  My best intentions this past weekend were simply shattered by this thing we call "Real Life".....

But, I have no regrets that my time was not spent with a paint brush in my hand.  Instead, I met some wonderful new people while showing a new listing of mine and spending some time with my mother on Saturday afternoon.  And Saturday night was wonderful with both of the boys here for hamburgers cooked on the grill.  Sunday?  Well, Sunday is actually a blur of resting and being somewhat lazy, throwing in a few loads of laundry here and there, and making a Herculean effort to push the painting project out of my mind.  It was one of those "lost days" where you have trouble recalling what you even did!  Do you ever have those?

Since I have no photos to post of the "project", I thought I would take a little blogging time today to hang out with Patrice at Everyday Ruralty and spend some time chatting on her farmhouse porch.  This is a fun thing to do each week and it gives us a little extra insight into everyone else's day.....

There are today's topics....
  1. What did you have for breakfast this morning?  Breakfast?  What's that???  I hate to admit it, but I am the world's worst when it comes to getting up and eating breakfast on a regular basis.  Not good, not healthy, I know!  Oh, wait, does coffee count as breakfast?  Because if it does, then I always have a fine breakfast!
  2. What's your favorite kind of juice?  I love orange juice!  And I like when it has some pulp in it, so I can pretend it's freshly squeezed.  Not the best thing on an empty stomach sometimes - acid, you know - but, a super cold glass of OJ is refreshing.
  3. Have you tried Pinterest yet?  Oh, gosh, let's not go here.......I'm hopelessly addicted!  I love the whole concept of being able to pin images on a virtual bulletin board and go back to look at them anytime for inspiration.  It's like having all the magazine images I've saved in one spot - with absolutely no clutter of magazines.  I don't even have any subscriptions anymore, yet I have tons of images that I can go back to over and over.  I've got it down to checking on this ONCE a day now.....
  4. I can't wait for __________ from my garden (or farmers' market/CSA/neighbor with green thumb).  Well, I don't have a garden.  The farmer's market here in town is pretty weak; I expect they will phase it out at some point because of lack of participation by growers and shoppers!  So, almost every bit of produce coming into this house comes from the supermarket.  However, my dad grows some killer cherry tomatoes and I'm looking forward to those, with a passion!
  5. The worst job I ever had was __________________.   This is easy - I worked for a very short time with a legal firm whose sole purpose was to file collection suits.  Yuck!  Sitting and plugging information into suit forms for credit card companies that had over-extended credit to people at sky-high interest rates and then expected to collect it from people who should have never spent the money in the first place.....it was beyond awful.  I simply reached a breaking point, loaded everything personal off my desk when I left one evening, quit in an e-mail and never went back.  I know, that was a childish way to handle it, but it was the best I could do at that point.....
If you want to play along and chat on the farmhouse porch, head on over to Everyday Ruralty and link up!

    Have a great day!

    1. Oh, Suzanne, it made me never ever want to use a credit card again! People sure can get themselves in an awful mess with credit cards. But, I guess some just can't resist when they get those pre-approved cards in the mail. Welcome to The Porch!!!

    1. I just returned from your blog, McGuffy's Reader, and I see you are as crazy about your animals as I am mine! Don't they make life wonderful??? So glad to meet you today!

  4. I'm so glad you joined us on the porch today. BTW- great haircut on your profile photo. You know how you notice everyone's hair when you are looking for that perfect haircut? I'm there now. The job sounds dreadful. I like the way you quit. I was always dumb enough to give two weeks notice and then tough it out for the next two weeks. That can be an even more miserable time because the employer doesn't feel compelled to be nice anymore.
Have a wonderful week. I hope to see you at one of the chats again.

  5. I just thoroughly enjoyed reading about you and your prince. Such a sweet story. My hubby wears the Aussie version of a Stetson. I then read about your four legged family- how cute! It's fun getting to know new folks. As they say- "Pleased to meet you!"

  6. Yes! I agree that coffee counts :) or at least first step towards preparing some oatmeal or toast! Fun interview and I'm with you on those projects waiting for attention. Sometimes I seem to be very productive, other days not. Enjoy your day!

    1. Coffee should be a major food group - don't know who goofed on that one! And I don't think God intended us to be productive every day - even He rested one day a week, right? Thanks for stopping by - I love visiting your beautiful blog!

  7. There sure are some crummy jobs in the world, aren't there? I guess I was just lucky to have work that wasn't too horrible.

Nice to meet you...you have a lovely family.

    1. Thanks, Stephanie. I think my family is pretty terrific! That job.....well, it prompted me to do something I had wanted to do for a long time - get my real estate license. So, I guess it wasn't all bad....

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

  8. I would hate to have a job in collections. Debt is an awful thing to be under. We're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. We rolled everything into our home mortgage 7-years ago and it'll be paid off in September or October. It's a wonderful feeling, too.

    1. Good for you, Cathy! It takes discipline and hard work to get out of debt. Now that we've done it, I have no desire to get stuck in the quicksand again!

  9. Hi Janie! So nice to have met you! Thank you for your sweet visit and comment! I hope you've found some lovely pinks to enjoy in your home! I am going to paint myself a pretty little pink step stool today! It's such a cheerful color. I think if my husband can handle it, yours can too!
    Best Wishes and Blessings,

    1. Yeah, I think my husband is pretty secure in his masculinity! LOL. I've decided to start in the guest room/home office where I spend so much time, and see how it goes. I need at least one "foo foo" room, as he calls it!

  10. I used to love oj when I was little. My granddaddy used to tell me not to drink his orange juice and, by the time he got back for lunch, I had downed every last bit! I never figured out it was his way of getting me to drink juice. LOL He was awesome! I would have hated that job too! And Pinterest? Addicted! I'm a new follower!

  11. Hi Jane! First of all I want to thank you for commenting on my blog and it was interesting to hear that doggie dental care can be less expensive than what I paid. Our bill ended up being $855! I'm still saying ouch! I'm afraid to go to Pinterest. I know I'd love it and I'd have another place spend all my time. The longer I can hold out, the better it will be, but I hear them calling my name! I know what you mean about "real life" sometimes getting in the way of our fun. It's nice though when it all works out in such a nice way. Enjoy your upcoming weekend.
